Scout and Parent Mega Challenge

Date: 19th Apr 2020 Author: Nikki Benge

Members from both Bird & Animal Troops have risen to a “Mega Challenge” thrown down by the Scout Leaders.

Working with a parent and over one day – the Scouts had to chose a unique name and costume for their team and complete the following:

Mega challenge – Build a Ballista – a device to launch an object to hit a target. The bigger the better!
Puzzle challenge – Complete 10 different puzzle from a letter soup, sign language word search and Sudoku.
Sport challenge – Design a single player game with a rule using whatever you have in your house/garden and compete Parent verse Scout
Cookery challenge – Create an afternoon tea
Art challenge – Recreate a large scale, famous piece of art work.

Bird Troop put together a video showing their completed Ballistas in action – click on the link below to take a look – it’s pretty impressive:

Big Thanks to Steve for instigating.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
