Some of our long serving Leaders were presented with well deserved Awards by Phil Hunt – District Commissioner of Richmond Upon Thames at the 220 Ho Ho Ho just before Christmas.

BIG Congratulations to:

Andrew McLaren on being awarded the Medal of Merit for outstanding service of not less than 12 years.

Mark Harrison on being awarded the Medal of Merit for outstanding service of not less than 12 years.

Robert Middleton on being awarded the Chief Scouts Commendation for good service of not less than 5 years.

Ian Taylor on being awarded the Chief Scout’s Length of Service Award for 20 years.

In addition Suzanne Beal, Hazel Taylor and Cliff Dungate were presented with Thanks Badges.

Thanks Badges are awarded to those who have been of service to Scouting but are not uniformed members and come with the following citation from Bear Grylls:

“Scouts change lives precisely because volunteers like you show up, get stuck in (the mud) and make it happen.

The time you give doesn’t go unnoticed. We really appreciate it.”

….. and we really do!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
