220 take part in Great River Race
Posted on 3 September 2017
An intrepid team of rowers representing 2nd Whitton took part in the Great River Race at the weekend.
Raising money for our group all the way – Sly, Mark, Richard, Mick, Lewis, Noah & Ian rowed a 1.5 tonne life boat 21.6 miles up the River Thames from Greenwich to Ham.
Their boat, the Viking, is the oldest surviving lifeboat built by Harland and Wolff (the makers of the Titanic, which it predates).
The crew came 3rd in the Historic Boats category, improving their 2014 time by an impressive 15 minutes.
Well done guys!
