2nd Whitton Scouts reach new heights with 5 members selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree in 2019
The 24th World Scout Jamboree is being held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, USA. 50,000 Scouts will travel from across the globe to attend the 3 week long experience in 2019.
2nd Whitton as a group has once again shown its strength by having 5 members selected to attend. Four Scouts were selected: Marcus Taylor (Bird Troop), Ewan Corke (Bird Troop), Michael Morgan (Bird Troop) and Tega Schmidt (Animal Troop). One Unit Leader was selected: Josh Wallis (Bird Troop).
All five members have begun the mammoth task of fundraising £3495 each to attend and are looking for any opportunity to help reduce their totals. GreaterLondonSouthWest Scout Council and Richmond District Scout Council have both made generous donations already. If you could provide any assistance with ideas or donations we would be very grateful to hear from you. There is a fundraising quiz on February 24th, please see posters in the HQ for more information.
The Scouts are part of two Units attending from our Scout County, Unit 26 and Unit 27. There are 72 young people across the two Units with 8 Unit leaders accompanying them. They will spend 12 days at the Jamboree main site with days also spent at Hosted Hospitality & various experience days as a UK Contingent.
See what’s in store for them:
